A still from the "Walking With Weapons" music video. Four women walk down a street, each holding a weapon. From left to right: a plank of wood with nails in it; a set of keys between fingers; a machete; a stun gun and a bowie knife. The image is mostly black and white, but the grass framing the women is bright pink where it should be green.

New release to send 2025 into the depths of hell where it belongs: Walking With Weapons

Posted on December 26, 2025December 31, 2025

One of the less obvious reasons this year was so terrible for me is that work with The Cancellations ground to a halt. There was a perfect storm of internal disinterest, professional-level ghosting, and depression that kept anything worthwhile from happening after our last couple shows in November of 2024.

In fact, this song isn’t even finished. The mixing engineer vanished in the process. This is the last version of the mix he sent us, and I finally decided it’s good enough. The mix can’t affect record sales when we’re not selling records, can it?

But with this track out, the Smile, We’re All Gonna Die EP is officially finished, released, out there in the world, and we are moving on. Fingers crossed that next year contains a lot more creativity and a lot less loss.

P.S. if you already bought the EP on Bandcamp, you should be able to download the new addition for free. Hit me up in the comments if you have any trouble.
